Niagara's professional, management and executive career opportunities are now only a click away.
Through Careersniagara.ca,the Niagara Workplace Planning Board hopes to connect high-level professional career-seekers with Niagara employers.
The website was launched Thursday at Niagara Employment Expo. Vanessa Bilenduke, co-ordinator of the event, said the site addresses a challenge commonly faced by dual-career families.
"If a husband gets a really great position in Niagara and they want to move here, it often depends on where his wife can also get a position in her professional field," she said.
"A lot of people have to turn down positions and turn down moving to Niagara because the (needs of ) dual-career families aren't being met." Brent Stirling, sales and marketing co-ordinator for careersniagara.ca,said senior-level, white-collar positions can be difficult to find in the region.
"It is tough in Niagara to find those types of jobs.... There are fewer of them. But we're doing our best to get them on the website and get the talent brought back to Niagara," he said.
Stirling also noted that local employers find it challenging to fill these positions.
"Top-level businesses are finding a disconnect between the jobs that are available in Niagara and the job seekers," he said.
"We're hoping that we've created an avenue for these people to find those jobs through careersniagara.ca
