WELLAND — Malcolm Allen says a "very serious charge" of contempt of Parliament against the federal Conservative government ultimately led to its downfall.
And now, the New Democratic Party MP for Welland riding is ready to fight for the opportunity to continue to represent his constituents after the next federal election, likely to be held May 2 or May 9.
"The House of Commons is our parliamentary institution for all Canadians, which deserves to be respected," Allen told The Tribune Friday, shortly after a non-confidence motion was passed in Ottawa by a vote of 156 to 145.
"Clearly, (the Conservatives) were found to be lacking in respect for the House itself." ( for the full story click here )
